Carnival Sunshine Set to Explore Exciting New European Destinations Next Season
Carnival Cruise Line has announced an exciting new itinerary for the Carnival Sunshine during the 2027–2028 season, introducing regular stops at African ports for the first time. This expansion into Africa coincides with an enhanced European schedule, showcasing the ship’s new Mediterranean and North African voyages.
From late May to October 2027, Carnival Sunshine will be stationed in Mediterranean and North African waters, offering a variety of week-long and extended itineraries from Barcelona and Civitavecchia (Rome). Ports of call will include iconic destinations in Italy, Spain, France, Turkey, Montenegro, as well as new stops in Tunisia and Morocco. Specifically, the ship will make its initial stops at La Goulette (Tunis) and Tangier, marking a significant expansion of Carnival’s traditional Caribbean focus.
In addition to the new African stops, Carnival Sunshine will visit lesser-known ports in Italy and the surrounding region, such as Bari, Bar (Montenegro), and Ajaccio (Corsica), as well as returning to ports like Genoa, Salerno, Palermo, and Catania. It will also call at Palma de Mallorca in Spain and Izmir in Turkey.
A highlight of the upcoming season is a special sailing aligned with the total solar eclipse on August 2, 2027. This cruise will depart from Barcelona on July 25, visiting several picturesque ports including Marseilles, Genoa, Salerno, Catania, Valletta, and La Goulette, with onboard activities themed around the celestial event.
Carnival Sunshine’s deployment will also feature transatlantic crossings, starting with a journey from Norfolk, Virginia to Dover, England in mid-May 2027, and concluding with a westbound crossing back to Miami, stopping at Alicante and Málaga in Spain, along with Tangier before reaching Miami.
Upon returning to the USA, Carnival Sunshine will operate from Galveston, Texas, offering 10- and 4-day cruises, and aligning with Carnival’s overall deployment strategy for the 2027–2028 cruise season.
