Alpine Unveils New F1 Car Aboard MSC World Europa: A Grand Maritime Reveal!
The BWT Alpine Formula One Team unveiled its new 2026 Formula 1 car, the A526, during a groundbreaking event aboard the MSC World Europa in Barcelona on January 24, 2026. This marked the first-ever launch of an F1 car on a cruise ship, taking place at MSC Cruises’ cutting-edge terminal.
The event featured key personalities including drivers Pierre Gasly and Franco Colapinto, Alpine Executive Advisor Flavio Briatore, and MSC Cruises’ Executive Chairman Pierfrancesco Vago, alongside a selection of VIP guests. Notably, MSC World Europa operated using Bio-LNG, maintaining net-zero carbon emissions for the duration of the launch, which aligns with the new Alpine car’s use of synthetic fuel for the season.
Vago expressed pride in being part of this historic occasion, highlighting the shared values of innovation and teamwork between MSC Cruises and the Alpine team. He emphasized their combined commitment to sustainability and the significance of launching the car on a ship crafted in France.
Flavio Briatore also noted the importance of the launch as a new chapter for the Alpine team, acknowledging MSC Cruises as a supportive partner. He thanked the attendees for their commitment, especially following the challenges the team faced in the previous season. Guests enjoyed BWT mineralized water, emphasizing the use of advanced purification technology on board, which is part of MSC’s broader efforts to reduce single-use plastic, aiming to eliminate over 49 million plastic water bottles fleetwide by 2026.
The MSC World Europa, built in Saint-Nazaire, France, represents the “Made in France” tradition that both Alpine and the cruise line celebrate.
