37-Year-Old Passenger Medically Evacuated from AIDAperla Near Bonaire
While AIDAperla, a cruise ship operated by AIDA Cruises, was navigating its 14-day Caribbean itinerary that started in Barbados on January 22, 2026, a medical emergency occurred. On the morning of February 3, a 37-year-old German passenger suffered an apparent heart attack while the ship was nearby Bonaire.
Upon receiving a distress signal from the onboard medical team, the Maritime Operations Center intervened. An on-call physician assessed the passenger’s condition and decided that immediate evacuation was necessary for advanced medical care.
To facilitate this, a Coast Guard rescue helicopter was dispatched to meet AIDAperla at sea for the transfer. The patient was successfully airlifted and brought to shore, where an ambulance was waiting to transport him to a local medical facility for further treatment. Authorities have not provided additional details regarding his condition after he was admitted for care.
