Adora Magic City Reaches Milestone with 1-Millionth Embarkation in Shanghai Cruise Industry
Adora Cruises has achieved a significant milestone by recording its one-millionth passenger embarkation aboard the Adora Magic City, the first large cruise vessel manufactured in China. This achievement highlights the growing cruise industry in Shanghai.
Officials from the Shanghai-based cruise line noted that reaching one million passengers showcases both the sustained market demand and the trust customers have in their services. The company is currently exploring plans to expand its fleet by deploying additional vessels to both domestic and international ports. This expansion is in line with China’s Belt and Road Initiative, aimed at enhancing trade and connectivity through a network of infrastructure projects across multiple regions.
During the current season, the Adora Magic City is set to complete over eighty voyages, primarily departing from its homeport in Shanghai. Notably, it will make its inaugural transit to Shenzhen in August to offer cruises in Southeast Asia. Adora Cruises also operates two other large vessels: the Adora Mediterranean, described as an "art ship," and the Piano Land, part of the Astro Ocean Cruise brand.
The Adora Mediterranean is slated for use across several homeports, including Tianjin, Guangzhou, Xiamen, Qingdao, Dalian, and Shenzhen, allowing for greater flexibility in travel routing. One scheduled departure from Xiamen International Cruise Home Port on April 10th marks a cruise with stops in the Philippines and Vietnam.
Additionally, the construction of China’s second domestically-built large cruise ship, the Adora Flora City, is reported to be over 90% complete, with an expected delivery by the end of the year. This new vessel will be stationed at Guangzhou Nansha and will focus its operations on the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
