Cruise Ship Cancels Cuba Port Visit Amid UK Travel Advisory
Ambassador Cruise Line’s Ambience has cancelled its port visit to Havana, Cuba, due to an updated travel advisory from the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO). This change comes as the vessel embarks on its "Jewels of the Caribbean Sea" itinerary, which set sail from Tilbury, UK, on January 30, 2026.
Following the FCDO’s advisory discouraging non-essential travel to Cuba due to infrastructure issues and unreliable emergency services, the cruise ship will replace its scheduled call to Havana on February 16 with two new port visits. The first will be on February 14 to Pointe-a-Pitre, Guadeloupe, followed by Basseterre, St. Kitts, on February 15. This unexpected change also offers a chance for a meet-up with another ship in the Ambassador Cruise Line fleet.
The cancellation comes just days after the travel warning was issued, which highlighted concerns about power outages and difficulties securing reliable medical care and transportation around Havana. Such conditions create significant challenges for visitors in case of emergencies.
Instead of visiting Cuba, Ambience will spend a day at sea on February 16, followed by another day at sea before its next destination, Grand Cayman. While the itinerary has been adjusted, the cruise line has confirmed that the remainder of the cruise will continue as planned, including stops at various Caribbean ports.
The final port visit on this sailing is still scheduled for St. Kitts on February 28. However, as it now features an earlier stop, it remains uncertain whether this particular visit may be altered.
