In preparation for the commissioning of the new vessel, Mein Schiff Flow, TUI Cruises has announced a campaign to select a female godmother from its loyal passengers for the ship’s christening ceremony on June 20, 2026, in Trieste, Italy.
This initiative marks a shift from traditional practices where godmothers are often notable figures or staff members. Instead, TUI Cruises aims to celebrate its connection with customers by involving those who have previously sailed with the fleet in the selection process.
To apply, candidates must be of legal age and have sailed on a Mein Schiff vessel at least once. They will need to submit a short written statement, a brief video, and recent images showcasing their connection to the Mein Schiff brand. Applications are due by March 16, 2026, after which an internal jury will shortlist candidates, followed by a voting phase involving the Mein Schiff community to select the final godmother.
Mein Schiff Flow is the second ship in the new InTUItion class, alongside its sister ship, Mein Schiff Relax. Under construction at Fincantieri’s yard in Monfalcone, the ship is expected to launch mid-2026. It will embark on its maiden voyage on June 25, featuring eight-day sailings in the Adriatic and western Mediterranean, coinciding with its christening ceremony.
This approach to godmother selection highlights TUI Cruises’ commitment to customer engagement in a tradition that signifies the vessel’s successful entry into service.
