Costa Serena Set to Return to Europe in 2027 After 11-Year Voyage in Asia
The Italian cruise ship Costa Serena is set for an extensive operational schedule in 2027 after spending 11 years primarily in Asia. Her upcoming season will mark her return to European waters, particularly connecting Mediterranean and South American routes.
In late April 2027, Costa Serena will make a transatlantic crossing to Costa’s Palacrociere Cruise Terminal located in Savona, Italy. Here, she will begin a summer season of cruises around Southern Europe. The Mediterranean itinerary kicks off with a 12-night journey through the Western Mediterranean, visiting ports in Spain, Portugal, France, Morocco, and Italy. Following this, a fourteen-night cruise will explore the Eastern Mediterranean, including stops at Southern European and Greek islands as well as Malta, before returning to Savona.
In addition to the longer voyages, Costa Serena will offer shorter seven-night cruises that will depart from both Italian and Maltese ports, featuring destinations like Mykonos and Argostoli. This summer schedule is set to replace similar voyages previously operated by another ship, Costa Fascinosa. The ship will revert to Western Mediterranean routes in the autumn, providing a series of quick coastal trips along Italy, Spain, and France.
Before returning to the Mediterranean, Costa Serena has a winter season planned in South America from December 2026 to April 2027, after a cruise that will take her from Tokyo to the Southern Hemisphere in late December 2026. This South American schedule includes mostly 8-10 day cruises along Brazil, Argentina, and Uruguay’s Atlantic coasts, departing from major ports like Buenos Aires, Rio de Janeiro, and Montevideo.
Costa Serena was launched in 2007 and has been continuously operating in Asia since 2015, being homeported in various locations including China, Taiwan, and Japan.
