Carnival Announces Capacity Adjustments in Australia and Seasonal Deployment of Adventure to North America
Carnival Cruise Line has announced a significant adjustment to its operations in Australia. Starting from April 2028, the Carnival Adventure will shift to seasonally sail in North America after completing its scheduled voyages. This decision reflects a response to more favorable market conditions outside of Australia and the current "uncertain regulatory environment" impacting operations in Australia and New Zealand.
Peter Little, the Country Manager, emphasized that Carnival remains the only cruise line committed to a year-round presence in the region. Despite the changes, customers can look forward to an increased number of homeport operations in Australia and New Zealand for the 2027/28 season. In fact, Carnival anticipates hosting around 1.2 million guests on approximately 400 voyages during this time.
Little noted that the adjustment also stems from increasing momentum and support from local governments in other major tourism markets around the world. He expressed optimism for the company’s continued investment in the Australian cruise sector, which provides substantial economic benefits, including 22,000 jobs and over $7 billion in revenue impact across various local industries.
This strategic shift aims not just to maximize opportunities elsewhere but also to ensure a more stable operating environment for Carnival, reinforcing its long-standing commitment to the cruise sector in Australia.
