Costa Serena Makes Its Grand Return to Europe in 2027 After 11 Years in Asia
The Italian cruise ship Costa Serena is set to return to European waters in 2027 after spending the last 11 years operating in Asia. This marks a significant shift in her service as Costa Serena re-establishes routes in the Mediterranean and South America.
In late April 2027, Costa Serena will make a transatlantic journey to Costa’s Palacrociere Cruise Terminal located in Savona, Italy, where she will begin a summer season featuring voyages around Southern Europe. Her agenda includes a prominent 12-night cruise through the Western Mediterranean, making stops at ports in Spain, Portugal, France, Morocco, and Italy. Following this, the vessel will embark on a 14-night journey into the Eastern Mediterranean, exploring regions in Southern Europe, the Greek archipelago, and Malta before returning to Savona.
In the summer, Costa Serena will also offer a series of shorter seven-night cruises from Italian and Maltese ports, visiting popular destinations like Mykonos and Argostoli. This itinerary will replace a schedule once designated for Costa Fascinosa. During autumn, the ship will revert to western Mediterranean routes, providing a range of brief coastal excursions among Italy, Spain, and France.
Before her deployment in the Mediterranean, Costa Serena has a winter season planned in South America from December 2026 to April 2027. Following a circumnavigational cruise from Tokyo that brings her to South America in late December 2026, she will primarily offer 8-10-day voyages along the Atlantic coasts of Brazil, Argentina, and Uruguay, departing from key homeports including Buenos Aires, Rio de Janeiro, and Montevideo.
Costa Serena, which was launched in 2007, had been homeported in Asia, serving passengers in China, Taiwan, and Japan during her tenure in the region from 2015 to 2026.
