DCL-Disney Cruise Line has officially announced that Robert Downey Jr. will be the godfather of its latest ship, the Disney Adventure, which is set to embark on its maiden voyage from Singapore on March 10, 2026. This announcement coincides with the ship’s significant connection to the Marvel franchise, as Downey is famously known for his role as Iron Man.
As part of the traditional blessing ceremony for the ship, Downey expressed his honor in taking on this role, highlighting the ship’s impressive size and the importance of a grand blessing to match it. Weighing in at approximately 208,000 gross tons, the Disney Adventure accommodates up to 6,700 passengers, making it the largest vessel in the Disney fleet, surpassing the Wish-class ships by around 44%.
The Disney Adventure boasts several innovative features, including the Ironcycle Test Run, a roller coaster that encapsulates the essence of the Tony Stark character. The ship also includes seven themed zones, such as Marvel Landing and San Fransokyo Street, designed to deliver an immersive experience that aligns with Disney’s storytelling tradition.
