The MSC Poesia, a Musica-class cruise ship, has entered dry dock at Palumbo Malta Shipyard for significant refurbishment ahead of its Alaskan cruise season, set to start in May 2026. This refurbishment marks the second major upgrade for this class of ship at the Maltese shipyard, coming after the successful refit of its sister ship, MSC Magnifica, in December 2025.
This upgrade, overseen by MSC Cruises’ technical team, is part of an extensive fleet enhancement plan, the most extensive in the last decade, with a completion date targeted for April. Once the dry-dock work is finished, MSC Poesia will introduce the exclusive MSC Yacht Club concept, which includes 69 luxury suites with personalized amenities and 24-hour butler service. Other onboard enhancements will feature two specialty dining options: an American-style steakhouse and an Asian-themed sushi bar. The wellness and fitness areas will also see a significant redesign, incorporating a new spa, upgraded gym facilities complete with Technogym systems, outdoor relaxation zones, and a dedicated solarium.
After the refit, MSC Poesia is set to offer a series of 7-night itineraries from Seattle in the summer, operating in Alaskan waters. Later in 2026, the ship will reposition to Miami for Caribbean sailings in the 2026-2027 season. The upgrade forms part of MSC’s broader initiative to integrate the MSC Yacht Club across all four vessels in the Musica class, including MSC Magnifica, MSC Musica, and MSC Orchestra, as the cruise line aims to enhance premium experiences throughout its fleet.
