Service Disruption: Technical Issues with Stena Adventurer Affect Dublin-Holyhead Ferry Operations
The Stena Adventurer ferry encountered a technical problem while docked at Holyhead, causing the cancellation and delay of several crossings between Dublin and the Welsh port. Scheduled to depart at 10:00 a.m., the ferry had to cancel its sailing after the issue was discovered.
Passengers already on board were required to disembark while the situation was addressed. This disruption led to operational challenges at the port, hindering the docking of other ferries and exacerbating the delay of services.
Stena Line and Irish Ferries were both affected. The planned 10:15 a.m. sailing from Dublin was redirected to Birkenhead Port near Liverpool, with alternate transportation arranged for passengers from there.
Consequent delays and cancellations rippled through additional sailings between Dublin and Holyhead. Passengers aboard the Stena Adventurer reported being on the vessel until mid-afternoon before being asked to leave. Many found themselves waiting at the port for updates on alternative travel arrangements, especially during a peak travel season due to heightened traffic related to events like the Six Nations rugby match in Dublin and the upcoming Cheltenham Festival.
