Celestyal Cruises Cancels Voyages as Fleet Returns from Arabian Gulf: What Travelers Need to Know
Celestyal Cruises has announced the cancellation of two upcoming sailings of the Celestyal Discovery as it prepares to reposition its vessels from the Arabian Gulf back to the Mediterranean. The affected voyages, originally scheduled for March 20th (3-night itinerary) and March 23rd (4-night itinerary), have been halted due to ongoing regional disruptions.
The Greece-based cruise line is closely monitoring the situation in the Middle East, maintaining communication with authorities to assess the operational landscape. Passengers affected by the cancellations will receive options for full refunds or future cruise credits and are encouraged to consult their travel agents for alternative arrangements.
Currently, all guests aboard the Celestyal Discovery have safely disembarked in Dubai, while the remaining passengers on the Celestyal Journey in Doha are expected to complete disembarkation within the next day. Both ships are reported to be operational and are on track for departure in compliance with local maritime and governmental guidance.
Chris Theophilides, the CEO of Celestyal Cruises, emphasized the company’s priority on passenger and crew safety. He noted that due to military activity in the Gulf since late February, the company has been actively managing operational challenges and assisting guests amidst the changing circumstances. Although most passengers are returning home, the process has been hindered by limited flight availability. As guest departures conclude, the focus will shift to safely relocating the vessels to Mediterranean waters, contingent upon appropriate conditions for travel.
Celestyal intends to resume its scheduled cruises as soon as it is feasible to do so.
