Norwegian Luna Sets Sail: NCL’s Latest Ship Launches with Transatlantic Repositioning Cruise
Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) has unveiled its latest vessel, Norwegian Luna, through official architectural renderings and video content as it embarks on its inaugural transatlantic cruise. The ship welcomed its first passengers on March 10th, 2026, departing from Civitavecchia-Rome, and is set to debut in Miami on March 23rd.
These images showcase extensive open deck areas and well-designed public spaces aimed at enhancing passenger movement and offering stunning sea views. NCL’s President, Marc Kazlauskas, emphasized that the ship exemplifies modern cruise design, featuring exterior deck spaces, intimate retreat areas, and a variety of entertainment and dining options meant to connect guests with the ocean.
Norwegian Luna, a sister ship to Norwegian Aqua, includes innovative attractions such as the Aqua Slidecoaster—a unique blend of waterslide and roller coaster, recently honored as the Best Water Park Ride or Attraction by the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions. The vessel hosts family-friendly installations like Luna Midway, an outdoor amusement space, Moon Climber, a multi-level obstacle course, and Horizon Park, which offers lawn games on the upper decks.
Health and wellness amenities are highlighted by the two-level Mandara Spa with treatment rooms, saunas, and panoramic ocean views, alongside an adults-only sun deck known as Vibe Beach Club. Accommodations range from studio cabins to luxurious suites within The Haven by Norwegian, a private enclave featuring personalized services.
Entertainment options aboard include the concert-style stage show "Elton: A Celebration of Elton John" and the theatrical production "HIKO: Innovation Meets Wonder," which integrates multimedia design with dynamic performances. Dining choices span from complimentary venues like Hudson’s and the Commodore Room to specialty restaurants such as Sukhothai, Onda by Scarpetta, Le Bistro, and Cagney’s, the stellar steakhouse.
Following its arrival in Miami, a christening ceremony is planned for March 27th, 2026, prior to the commencement of regular service. The initial itineraries feature three- to four-day cruises to the Bahamas and seven-day voyages in the Eastern Caribbean, visiting ports like Puerto Plata and St. Thomas, along with stops at Great Stirrup Cay.
In November 2026, Norwegian Luna will transition to Western Caribbean routes, with ports of call including Roatán and Cozumel. The ship is also scheduled to begin homeport operations in New York City starting April 2027, offering itineraries that incorporate overnight stays in Bermuda.
