AIDA Cruises Cancels Winter 2026-2027 Middle East Season: What This Means for Travelers

AIDA Cruises has announced the cancellation of its entire Orient program for the winter season of 2026-2027. This decision affects all voyages scheduled for the AIDAprima, which were set to operate in the Middle East from October 19, 2026, to May 20, 2027.

The cancellation is primarily due to ongoing uncertainty and security concerns in the region. AIDA Cruises stated that the safety of passengers and crew is its foremost priority when making operational decisions.

As a result of the cancellations, the planned repositioning voyages around the African coast have also been withdrawn. However, one voyage titled "Western Europe Highlights from Hamburg 1" will still depart as scheduled from Hamburg to Las Palmas between October 19 and November 1, 2026.

Impacted passengers will have the option to transfer their bookings to alternative voyages within the AIDA Cruises fleet, including itineraries in stable regions like the Caribbean and Canary Islands. Those who choose an alternative cruise by May 10, 2026, will receive onboard credits of EUR 200 for cabins and EUR 100 for single-occupancy bookings.

AIDA Cruises is preparing a revised winter deployment plan for the AIDAprima, with new itineraries expected to be available for booking by mid-April. This cancellation is indicative of a trend within the cruise industry, as multiple operators are revising or suspending Middle East sailings in response to increasing geopolitical tensions and are redirecting ships to more stable regions.
