MSC Seashore Resumes Course After Midnight False Alarm: What Happened?

A precautionary search was conducted on the MSC Seashore during the early hours of March 10th after rumors emerged that a passenger may have fallen overboard. The large cruise ship had just departed from Ocean Cay, Bahamas, as part of a four-night itinerary.

Shortly after midnight, passengers received messages indicating a male guest might have gone overboard from one of the ship’s decks. In response, the ship’s bridge team executed a maneuver to return to the area while crew members used searchlights to scan the sea. Concurrently, ship officers initiated a review of onboard monitoring systems, examining video footage from surveillance cameras and data from man-overboard detection tools. No evidence was found to support the report.

To ensure safety, passengers were asked to return to their cabins while a headcount was conducted using the electronic cruise card system, confirming the presence of all guests and crew. By 1:00 AM, the vessel’s captain announced over the public address system that everyone onboard was accounted for and that the earlier report was a false alarm.

After confirming the safety of all individuals on board, the ship resumed its original course toward Nassau without disrupting the planned itinerary.
