Norwegian Luna Sets Sail: NCL’s Newest Ship Embarks on Transatlantic Repositioning Cruise
Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) has unveiled its newest ship, Norwegian Luna, alongside the initial architectural renderings and video material showcasing the vessel’s design as it begins its inaugural transatlantic voyage. The ship welcomed its first passengers on March 10, 2026, in Civitavecchia-Rome and is set to make its debut in Miami on March 23, 2026.
The released visuals highlight a contemporary architecture featuring ample open deck areas and public spaces that provide passengers with flexible movement and unobstructed ocean views. Marc Kazlauskas, NCL’s President, emphasized the vessel as a representation of modern cruise design, with features aimed at enhancing passenger experiences, including extensive entertainment and diverse dining options.
Norwegian Luna, a sistership to Norwegian Aqua, introduces new attractions such as the Aqua Slidecoaster, a unique combination of a waterslide and roller coaster, which has received accolades from industry professionals. The ship’s deck plans also incorporate areas catering to multi-generational travel, such as Luna Midway, Moon Climber, and Horizon Park, designed for recreational activities.
Wellness options include the Mandara Spa with stunning ocean views and the Vibe Beach Club, an exclusive sun deck for adults. Passenger accommodations vary from studio cabins to luxurious suites within The Haven by Norwegian.
Entertainment offered onboard includes a stage show dedicated to Elton John’s music and a theatrical production blending multimedia with acrobatics. Three complimentary dining venues and specialty restaurants offering various cuisines enhance the culinary experience for guests.
Following its Miami debut, the ship will be christened on March 27, 2026, and will embark on initial itineraries to the Bahamas and Eastern Caribbean, with stops at NCL’s private destinations, Great Stirrup Cay and Harvest Caye.
Starting in November 2026, Norwegian Luna will offer cruises in the Western Caribbean, visiting locations such as Roatán, Cozumel, and Harvest Caye, and will begin homeport operations from New York City in April 2027, conducting voyages to Bermuda.
