Norwegian Luna Sets Sail: NCL’s Latest Ship Officially Begins Transatlantic Voyages
Norwegian Cruise Line has officially launched its latest ship, the Norwegian Luna, which embarked on its inaugural transatlantic cruise. The vessel welcomed its first passengers on March 10th at Civitavecchia, Rome, and will make its debut in the USA on March 23rd in Miami.
The architectural renderings and videos released highlight the ship’s modern design, featuring spacious decks and public areas that prioritize passenger movement and ocean views. NCL President Marc Kazlauskas presented the Norwegian Luna as a representation of contemporary cruise design, underscoring its focus on connecting passengers with the sea while providing diverse onboard experiences.
In addition to its sister ship, Norwegian Aqua, the Luna features several new attractions, including the Aqua Slidecoaster, which recently earned an award for the Best Water Park Ride. The ship also boasts amenities for family enjoyment, such as Luna Midway—an outdoor amusement area, Moon Climber—an obstacle course, and Horizon Park—a space for lawn games.
Wellness options include the two-level Mandara Spa and the Vibe Beach Club, an exclusive adults-only sun deck. As for accommodations, the ship offers a range of choices from studio cabins to luxurious suites within The Haven.
Entertainment aboard will showcase shows like "Elton: A Celebration of Elton John" and the theatrical production "HIKO: Innovation Meets Wonder." Dining facilities feature a mixture of complimentary and specialty restaurants, such as Sukhothai for Thai cuisine, Onda by Scarpetta for Italian dishes, and Cagney’s steakhouse.
After its Miami christening on March 27th, the Luna will operate itineraries that include trips to the Bahamas and the Eastern Caribbean, stopping at destinations like Great Stirrup Cay and Harvest Caye. By November 2026, it will transition to Western Caribbean routes, visiting places such as Roatán and Cozumel.
Starting April 2027, Norwegian Luna will homeport in New York City, offering cruises to Bermuda that include overnight stays at the Royal Naval Dockyard in Bermuda.
