Victory Cruise Lines Announces $5M Refurbishment for Victory I and Victory II Ships
Victory Cruise Lines (VCL) has launched a significant enhancement initiative valued at approximately $5 million for its vessels, Victory I and Victory II, during the 2026 layup period. This comprehensive program encompasses technical maintenance, regulatory inspections, and upgrades aimed at enhancing the overall guest experience onboard.
Key aspects of the refurbishment include extensive overhauls of the ships’ main engines and the recertification of onboard cranes, alongside various drydock improvements. The program also involves the selective replacement of deck surfaces and a complete refresh of the vessels’ exterior paint, with annual regulatory inspections conducted in collaboration with the United States Coast Guard.
According to VCL’s COO, David William Kelly, this layup period serves as a structured investment cycle for the fleet. The investment reflects the company’s commitment to maintaining the technical reliability of its ships while progressively enhancing the onboard experience for guests.
The refurbishment will also focus on several interior and hospitality upgrades. The entrance to the Coastal Dining Room will feature a custom herringbone floor pattern, and new windows will be installed in The Grill. Public areas will see updates to lighting systems, and the Compass Lounge will be equipped with a new sound system.
Additional interior improvements involve custom carpeting in the main restaurant and stair towers, along with updated wall coverings in certain spaces. The upholstery and soft furnishings across key guest areas will also be refreshed.
Dining facilities are set for modernization with new kitchen equipment being installed. Mobile cooking stations will be introduced in the Compass Lounge, allowing the culinary team to host live cooking demonstrations and interactive competitions featuring senior officers during select onboard events.
