AIDA Cruises Cancels 2026-2027 Winter Season in the Middle East: What You Need to Know
AIDA Cruises has made the decision to cancel its entire Orient program for the winter season of 2026–2027. This cancellation affects all voyages planned for the AIDAprima from October 19th, 2026, to May 20th, 2027, that were to take place in the Middle East.
The cancellation stems from ongoing uncertainty in the region, coupled with the challenges in assessing future security conditions for cruise operations. AIDA emphasized that the safety of passengers and crew is their primary concern when making operational decisions.
As a result of this cancellation, the repositioning voyages for AIDAprima around the coast of Africa have also been withdrawn. However, one sailing—the “Western Europe Highlights from Hamburg 1”—is still set to proceed, departing from Hamburg to Las Palmas between October 19th and November 1st, 2026.
Passengers impacted by the cancellations will be given options to transfer their bookings to other AIDA Cruises voyages. These alternative sailings include winter itineraries in safe cruising regions like the Caribbean and Canary Islands. Additionally, those who choose a replacement cruise by May 10th, 2026, will receive onboard credit of EUR 200 per cabin, or EUR 100 for single-occupancy bookings.
AIDA Cruises plans to release a revised winter deployment plan for AIDAprima by mid-April 2026. This move aligns with broader trends in the cruise industry, where several operators have adjusted or suspended Middle Eastern sailings due to increasing geopolitical tensions, redirecting vessels toward more stable cruising destinations, including the Canary Islands, Mediterranean, and Caribbean.
