Princess Cruises Expands Southern Caribbean Itineraries with New Homeport in Barbados
Princess Cruises is set to enhance its Southern Caribbean offerings by introducing Barbados as a new homeport for the 2027 and 2028 seasons, alongside its current operations from San Juan. This move marks a return to Barbados and expands the options for roundtrip Caribbean sailings.
Beginning in early 2027, travelers can embark from either Barbados or San Juan, with over 30 voyages planned to approximately 15 destinations across the Southern Caribbean. The itineraries focus primarily on 7-night sailings, including stops at popular and less-visited ports like Antigua, Dominica, Grenada, Martinique, St. Lucia, St. Kitts, Tortola, and St. Thomas.
This initiative aims to enhance accessibility for international travelers, especially from Europe, as direct flights from major UK airports make embarking from Barbados easier, avoiding the need to transit through the United States.
Two ships will operate the new program: the Crown Princess will sail from Barbados from January to March 2027, while the Emerald Princess will continue from November 2027 through March 2028, including special holiday sailings around Christmas and New Year.
A sample itinerary on the Crown Princess includes a 7-night roundtrip journey departing Barbados, with stops in San Juan, St. Thomas, St. Maarten, Dominica, and Grenada. The Emerald Princess will feature similar routes during its season.
To facilitate travel, Princess Cruises will offer an integrated air and cruise booking option, accommodating delayed arrivals to ensure smooth connections to the ships.
Overall, the inclusion of Barbados as a homeport signifies an important step in Princess Cruises’ strategy to strengthen its presence in the Southern Caribbean, offering more flexibility and options for travelers during the winter season.
