American Cruise Lines’ Newest Vessel, American Encore, Set for Columbia and Snake River Operations

American Cruise Lines (ACL) has announced that its latest riverboat, the American Encore, has successfully completed its sea trials and is now repositioning for deployment on the Columbia and Snake Rivers. The vessel, which departed from Chesapeake Shipbuilding in Maryland, will travel along the eastern seaboard, through the Caribbean, and via the Panama Canal, before making its way to the Pacific Northwest.

The American Encore is one of ACL’s modern, USA-built vessels designed to accommodate around 180 passengers. The onboard layout prioritizes spaciousness and an array of amenities, catering to domestic river cruise itineraries.

During the repositioning voyage, the navigation and engineering operations will be managed by the vessel’s command team, supported by technical personnel on shore. They will continuously monitor weather conditions, routing, and onboard systems, a standard procedure during the transition from shipyard to operational status.

Upon reaching the Columbia River near Astoria, Oregon, the American Encore will enter service with a range of itineraries along the river systems well-known for their scenic landscapes and historical significance tied to early American exploration. The newcomer is set to begin its inaugural season in May 2026, offering cruises through the picturesque Pacific Northwest well into autumn.
