Celestyal Cruises Extends Cancellations Amid Ongoing Gulf Deployment Delays
Celestyal Cruises has announced the cancellation of more sailings in its Mediterranean schedule as both of its vessels remain in the Persian Gulf, where regional instability is impacting maritime operations. The affected voyages include departures of the Celestyal Discovery on March 27th and March 30th, 2026, following previous cancellations earlier in the month.
Originally set for the Eastern Mediterranean, these itineraries have been suspended while the cruise line works on repositioning its vessels for the summer season. The company confirmed that all passengers were safely disembarked from the ships currently docked in Doha and Dubai, and both vessels remain operational. Their future departures will depend on safe travel through the Strait of Hormuz, as coordination with relevant authorities continues.
The company is planning to relocate the ships to the Mediterranean as soon as conditions allow, a delay that is disrupting the launch of its Greek island program. This situation is a result of broader geopolitical issues in the Middle East, which have complicated traditional shipping routes and necessitated changes for multiple cruise lines in the region.
Passengers whose trips have been impacted will receive either a full refund or a future cruise credit and are advised to reach out to their original booking channels for assistance with rebooking or reimbursement. Previous cancellations earlier in March had already halted the first voyages of the season, with this latest extension effectively postponing all remaining March departures for the vessel.
The Celestyal Journey is not expected to resume Mediterranean operations until early April, depending on the same regional constraints affecting the movement of the fleet.
