Princess Cruises Expands Southern Caribbean Itinerary with New Barbados Homeport
Princess Cruises is set to enhance its Southern Caribbean operations by introducing Bridgetown, Barbados, as a new homeport for the 2027 and 2028 cruise seasons. This move complements its existing embarkation point in San Juan, Puerto Rico, marking a return to Barbados and expanding options for roundtrip Caribbean voyages.
The deployment, expected to commence in early 2027, will allow travelers to choose between departing from Barbados or San Juan. Over 30 cruises will take passengers to approximately 15 destinations in the Southern Caribbean, reflecting Princess Cruises’ commitment to a broader regional presence.
The itineraries will span 6 to 9 nights, focusing primarily on 7-night cruises, and will visit a mix of well-known and off-the-beaten-path ports, such as Antigua, Dominica, Grenada, Martinique, St. Lucia, St. Kitts, Tortola, and St. Thomas. This design aims to provide a balance of frequent sailing schedules alongside varied destination opportunities.
The new program aims to facilitate access for international travelers, particularly those from Europe, thanks to direct flights to Barbados from key UK airports. This provides an alternative to routes that necessitate transit through the United States, thereby streamlining the embarkation process.
Two vessels from the Princess Cruises fleet will operate these itineraries. The Crown Princess will sail from Barbados from January to March 2027, featuring a series of 7-night routes, while the Emerald Princess will continue from November 2027 through March 2028, including holiday voyages during the Christmas and New Year season.
An example itinerary aboard the Crown Princess includes a 7-night roundtrip from Barbados in March 2027, stopping at San Juan, St. Thomas, St. Maarten, Dominica, and Grenada. The following winter schedule on the Emerald Princess will similarly cover these regional connections while also including more holiday-specific cruises towards the end of December.
To support this expansion, Princess Cruises is providing an integrated air and cruise booking option, allowing passengers to secure their flights alongside their cruise packages. This service caters to potential travel delays to ensure that all guests can board their ship without any hitches.
The addition of Barbados as a homeport represents a move to enhance flexibility in embarkation choices and reinforces the importance of the Southern Caribbean in Princess Cruises’ winter offerings.
