Celestyal Cruises Extends Cancellations Amid Ongoing Gulf Deployment Delays
Celestyal Cruises has made the decision to withdraw additional sailings from its early Mediterranean itinerary due to ongoing regional instability affecting maritime movements in the Persian Gulf. The most recent cancellations include voyages of the Celestyal Discovery set for March 27th and March 30th, 2026, which follow earlier cancellations made earlier in the month.
These itineraries, initially intended for the Eastern Mediterranean, have been suspended as the cruise line focuses on repositioning its vessels for the summer season. Celestyal Cruises confirmed that all passengers have been safely disembarked from the ships currently docked in Doha and Dubai. Both vessels remain operational, with their departure from the region coordinated based on guidance from authorities, dependent on secure transit conditions through the Strait of Hormuz.
Plans are in place to relocate the ships back to the Mediterranean when it is safe to do so, despite delays that are impacting the commencement of the company’s Greek island program. These interruptions are a result of broader geopolitical issues in the Middle East that have disrupted normal shipping routes.
As a measure for affected passengers, Celestyal Cruises is offering full refunds or future cruise credits. Passengers are advised to coordinate rebooking or reimbursement through their original booking channels. The cruise line continues to monitor the situation while aiming to resume Mediterranean operations, including trips to Greece, as soon as conditions allow.
Earlier cancellations had already removed the initial voyages of the season, and the latest decision has effectively suspended all remaining March departures for the vessel. Celestyal Journey is not expected to restart Mediterranean operations until early April, also subject to the same regional constraints affecting fleet movements.
