Royal Caribbean Cancels Over 20 Summer 2027 Cruises on Freedom of the Seas

Royal Caribbean International (RCI) has canceled over 20 voyages originally scheduled for the summer of 2027 aboard the Freedom of the Seas. These voyages, planned between May and September, offered a variety of itineraries throughout the Caribbean.

Passengers impacted by these cancellations received notifications via email, explaining that the decision was part of the cruise line’s routine deployment and itinerary planning. As a result, Freedom of the Seas will be repositioned to Southampton for the 2027 sailing season. Affected guests and travel agents will be contacted directly regarding their bookings and available options.

Among the canceled itineraries were 9-night cruises that included stops at Aruba and Curaçao, as well as 5-night trips to the Dominican Republic and CocoCay, and shorter 4-night voyages to the Bahamas.

The shift in home port often necessitates the cancellation of previously scheduled itineraries, leading to a significant impact on those who had booked their vacations well in advance. To mitigate the disruption, RCI is offering several alternatives to affected travelers. One option is an automatic reassignment to a 4-night cruise on Wonder of the Seas departing from Miami. Other alternatives include shorter sailings on Adventure of the Seas or Jewel of the Seas.

For passengers who find the alternative sailings unsuitable, RCI has stated that they can request a full refund of their cruise fare, including reimbursement for any prepaid services tied to their original bookings.

This announcement follows a separate set of cancellations by Carnival Cruise Line, which recently withdrew 11 sailings planned for autumn 2026 aboard Carnival Firenze, citing revisions to their itinerary plans and offering rebooking or refunds to those affected.

Such cancellations are not uncommon in the cruise industry, as deployment schedules frequently adjust to reflect market demands and fleet positioning. However, the complete withdrawal of Freedom of the Seas’ summer program is set to affect thousands of travelers who had planned their cruises months in advance.
