TUI Cruises Cancels Mein Schiff 4 Repositioning Voyage Due to Middle East Disruptions
TUI Cruises has announced the cancellation of the second leg of the repositioning voyage for its ship Mein Schiff 4, originally set to depart on April 11, 2026. This decision comes as a consequence of ongoing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, which have led to significant operational disruptions affecting cruise activities in the Arabian Gulf region.
The cancelled itinerary was a 20-day journey planned from Cape Town to Palma de Mallorca, designed as part of the ship’s seasonal transition from South Africa to the Mediterranean. The itinerary included planned stops at various ports along the way, aiming to connect routes across the Atlantic and into the Mediterranean before concluding in Spain.
Previously, TUI Cruises had already cancelled the first leg of this repositioning voyage, which was to depart from the United Arab Emirates to South Africa in late March. As a result, all voyages aboard Mein Schiff 4 scheduled from late February to April 2026 have been removed from the schedule, impacting numerous destinations along the planned route.
Under the original plan, Mein Schiff 4 was set to visit Walvis Bay in Namibia, followed by Praia in Cape Verde, and several ports in the Canary Islands such as Gran Canaria and Arrecife. The ship was also scheduled to dock in Tangier, Morocco, and finish its voyage in Barcelona before arriving in Palma de Mallorca after crossing the western Mediterranean.
The cancellation is part of a more extensive disruption affecting TUI Cruises’ operations in the region. Similar cancellations have also impacted Mein Schiff 5, which was involved in repositioning sailings and other departures between late February and March 2026, all due to the same regional security concerns.
According to TUI Cruises, the developments in the Middle East necessitated ongoing evaluations and collaboration with international authorities and security experts. The cruise line emphasized that passenger and crew safety remains its top priority when deciding whether to proceed with planned voyages.
Affected passengers have been directly notified and are being offered alternatives or compensation in line with TUI’s policies.
