TUI Cruises Expands Its Southern Africa Presence with New Winter Deployment in Cape Town
TUI Cruises has announced its intention to enhance its presence in Southern Africa by deploying the Mein Schiff 5 for the winter 2027-2028 season. The vessel will commence a series of roundtrip voyages from Cape Town starting in November 2027. These journeys are designed to last 14 days, making stops at various South African ports as well as international destinations across the Indian Ocean, including Mauritius and Réunion.
Cape Town has increasingly become a pivotal turnaround port for international cruise lines, serving as a base for ships operating within the region. Its strategic location at the southern tip of Africa facilitates connections between the Atlantic and Indian Oceans.
This deployment in South Africa is part of a broader winter 2027-2028 schedule for TUI Cruises, which will see multiple Mein Schiff vessels operating in diverse markets, such as the Caribbean, Canary Islands, Asia, and Northern Europe.
In the Caribbean, vessels like the Mein Schiff 1 will offer extended itineraries, sailing from Miami to Puerto Rico and the ABC islands. Other ships, including the Mein Schiff 3 and 4, will navigate routes connecting popular Caribbean destinations.
Meanwhile, the Mein Schiff 2 is set to start its winter in Northern Europe before transitioning to warmer waters, featuring both short and long sailings, including a 35-day voyage linking Northern Europe with the Caribbean.
TUI Cruises is also enhancing its operations in Asia, with the Mein Schiff 6 slated to reposition via Africa before embarking on a series of two-week cruises across Southeast Asia, visiting Singapore and various Thai, Malaysian, and Vietnamese ports.
In the Atlantic islands, the Mein Schiff 7 and Mein Schiff Relax will provide 7- to 11-night cruises around the Canary Islands starting in late October 2027, emphasizing island-hopping itineraries that include stops in Gran Canaria, Tenerife, Fuerteventura, and Madeira, with additional visits to Morocco, the Azores, and Cape Verde.
The pricing for these winter programmes will vary, with entry-level fares beginning around EUR 729 for a 7-night Canary Islands cruise, while longer voyages, such as a 14-night Northern Europe itinerary, are projected to start at approximately EUR 2,079 per person.
