TUI Cruises Cancels Mein Schiff 4 Repositioning Voyage Due to Middle East Disruptions

TUI Cruises has announced the cancellation of the second leg of the planned repositioning voyage for the Mein Schiff 4, originally set to depart on April 11, 2026. This decision comes in response to ongoing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East that have disrupted cruise activities across the Arabian Gulf region.

The cancelled 20-day itinerary was intended to transport the ship from Cape Town to Palma de Mallorca, marking its seasonal relocation from South Africa to the Mediterranean. This route was designed to connect various ports along the Atlantic and Mediterranean before reaching its final destination in Spain.

Prior to this, the first segment of the repositioning voyage, scheduled to sail from the United Arab Emirates to South Africa in late March, was also cancelled. With both segments removed from the schedule, several voyages aboard Mein Schiff 4 between late February and April 2026 have been impacted, affecting multiple planned destinations.

Originally, the ship was set to visit several noteworthy ports, including Walvis Bay in Namibia, famous for its stunning desert coastline and unique wildlife. The itinerary also included stops at Praia in Cape Verde, Canary Islands locations like Gran Canaria and Arrecife, and concluded with visits to Tangier in Morocco and Barcelona, before ending in Palma de Mallorca after crossing the western Mediterranean.

This cancellation is part of broader disruptions faced by TUI Cruises in the region, as voyages for Mein Schiff 5, including its repositioning sailings from late February to March 2026, have also been withdrawn due to similar security concerns.

The cruise line noted that these developments necessitate continuous coordination with international authorities and security advisors, with the safety of passengers and crew being the utmost priority in deciding the feasibility of the voyages.

Both Mein Schiff 4 and Mein Schiff 5 remain in the region as TUI Cruises reassesses operational planning. Passengers affected by these cancellations are being directly contacted and offered alternative options or compensation in accordance with the company’s policies.
