MSC Group Launches New Entertainment Development Facility in Edinburgh

MSC Group’s Cruise Division has unveiled plans for MSC Creative Studios, a new facility aimed at enhancing shipboard entertainment and performer training for its cruise brands, including MSC Cruises and Explora Journeys. This initiative is part of their strategy to elevate the quality and scope of entertainment offerings across their fleet.

The group has procured a production studio located in Edinburgh, Scotland, which is currently undergoing renovations and is set to officially open by July 2026. This facility is anticipated to play a crucial role in preparing entertainment productions scheduled for late 2026 and beyond.

Once operational, MSC Creative Studios will serve as a central hub for creative development, facilitating collaboration among creative, technical, and production teams. The studio will be equipped with various spaces including an aerial rehearsal area, eleven dance studios, six vocal rehearsal rooms, and a professional recording studio. Additional amenities such as offices, changing facilities, green rooms, and storage for props and costumes will also be included. This setup is designed to support rehearsals, technical training, and stagecraft development, providing a venue for performers to refine productions before they debut on cruise ships.

The Vice President of Entertainment for MSC stated that creating this permanent development center is a key milestone as the company aims for bigger and more ambitious productions. He emphasized that the new facility will ensure shows are thoroughly prepared prior to launch, maintaining high standards across the entire fleet. The collaborative nature of the studio will also allow performers and creative teams to innovate from the project’s inception, while drawing inspiration from the vibrant cultural landscape of Edinburgh.

Recruitment efforts for performers and creative talent for the new studio have already commenced.
