TUI Cruises Cancels Mein Schiff 4 Repositioning Voyage Due to Middle East Disruptions
TUI Cruises has announced the cancellation of the second leg of the planned repositioning voyage for the Mein Schiff 4, which was set to embark on April 11, 2026. This decision comes in light of recent operational disruptions resulting from ongoing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East that have impacted cruise activities throughout the Arabian Gulf region.
The 20-day itinerary was intended to take passengers from Cape Town, South Africa, to Palma de Mallorca, Spain. It was part of the ship’s seasonal relocation from South Africa to the Mediterranean and included stops at various ports across the Atlantic and Mediterranean before concluding in Spain.
This cancellation follows the prior cancellation of the first leg of the repositioning program, which was originally meant to depart from the United Arab Emirates to South Africa in late March. As a result, many voyages scheduled for the Mein Schiff 4 from late February to April 2026 have been withdrawn, affecting numerous planned destinations.
The original itinerary was designed to include calls at Walvis Bay in Namibia, known for its stunning coastline and wildlife, before continuing to Praia in Cape Verde. Passengers would then have explored ports in the Canary Islands, including Gran Canaria and Arrecife, before making a stop in Tangier, Morocco, and finally reaching Barcelona before concluding in Palma de Mallorca.
TUI Cruises has also withdrawn the planned voyages for Mein Schiff 5, which were similarly impacted by the security concerns in the region. Both ships were operating in the Arabian Gulf at the time and have had their itineraries reassessed.
The cruise line has stated that the developments in the Middle East necessitated continuous monitoring in collaboration with international authorities and security advisors, prioritizing the safety of passengers and crew in their decision-making.
Affected passengers have been contacted directly and offered alternatives or compensation in accordance with TUI’s policies.
