Celebrity Cruises Expands South Pacific Itineraries with New Calls to Lelepa, Vanuatu

Celebrity Cruises is set to include the island of Lelepa in Vanuatu as a port of call on select future South Pacific itineraries. This update follows the announcement of the new destination, which is expected to open in 2027 and will be the first private cruise island in the Southern Hemisphere. The addition of Lelepa aligns with Celebrity’s affiliation with Royal Caribbean Group, which also oversees Royal Caribbean International.

For the 2027-2028 cruise season, two itineraries have been confirmed that will visit Lelepa. The first is a round-trip voyage from Sydney, Australia, that will also stop in Fiji, marking the only sailing to combine both Lelepa and Fiji in one trip. The second itinerary is a traditional South Pacific cruise, which will include stops at Mystery Island, Lelepa, Port Vila, and Lifou over a 10-day period.

Royal Caribbean International plans to heavily incorporate Lelepa into its regional offerings, with a large number of its Australian sailings including this new destination. While Celebrity Cruises currently lists only these two itineraries including Lelepa, the cruise line might potentially expand its South Pacific program in future seasons. Celebrity has a diverse range of itineraries from Australia, offering various destinations like Tasmania, the Great Barrier Reef, and New Zealand, though its focus tends to be more on domestic routes.

As the opening date for Lelepa approaches, the industry is closely monitoring whether Celebrity will broaden its South Pacific program or maintain a diverse array of itineraries with limited calls to the new destination. Currently, the cruise line operates a smaller number of voyages in the region compared to its sister brand, Royal Caribbean, which dedicates a substantial portion of its itineraries to South Pacific destinations. Additional details regarding future deployments and itinerary expansions are expected later this year when Celebrity releases its itineraries for the 2028-2029 season.
