MSC Group Launches Specialized Entertainment Development Facility in Edinburgh
MSC Group’s Cruise Division has announced the launch of MSC Creative Studios, a new facility aimed at enhancing shipboard entertainment and training performers for its cruise lines. This initiative is part of MSC’s broader strategy to improve the scale and quality of entertainment offerings for both MSC Cruises and Explora Journeys.
Located in Edinburgh, Scotland, the newly acquired production studio is undergoing renovations and is set to open by July 2026. Once operational, it will serve as a central hub for creative development, featuring an aerial rehearsal space, eleven dance studios, six vocal rehearsal rooms, and a professional recording studio. The facility will also include offices, changing rooms, green rooms, and storage for scenery, props, and costumes. It is designed to facilitate rehearsals, technical training, and stagecraft development, allowing performers to prepare productions before they debut on board MSC’s ships.
The Vice President of Entertainment for the MSC Cruise Division emphasized that this establishment marks a significant advancement in the company’s ambitions for theatrical productions. By having a dedicated space, shows can be fully prepared before being deployed, ensuring a consistent quality across their fleet. The studio will foster collaboration among performers, technicians, and creative teams from the early stages of production, while also drawing inspiration from Edinburgh’s rich cultural background.
Recruitment efforts for performers and creative staff for the new facility are already underway.
