MHA Conference and Trade Show Kicks Off: Bridging the Gap Between Cruise Buyers and Suppliers
The Marine Hotel Association (MHA) kicked off its 41st annual conference and trade show on March 29 in Naples, Florida, aiming to unite cruise line purchasing executives with suppliers in the hotel and food and beverage sectors. Held at the Naples Grande Beach Resort, the event marks a significant gathering for the global cruise ship supply chain.
The evening commenced with an opening reception sponsored by Heineken. Attendees included top executives from major cruise lines such as Carnival Corporation, Royal Caribbean Group, Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings, and more, fostering invaluable connections between purchasing decision-makers and suppliers.
During the opening session on Monday morning, MHA Board President Vina Jumpp emphasized the unique role of the MHA in the industry. "The MHA is such a unique show," she remarked, highlighting its distinction from other industry events. She noted the importance of direct engagement between vendors and cruise industry leaders, offering a rare opportunity for one-on-one connections that can lead to future partnerships.
Jumpp advised first-time exhibitors and newer participants to remain patient, as cultivating vendor relationships within the cruise industry often requires time. Acknowledging new supplier companies at the trade show was also an important part of her address.
The trade show commenced at 10 a.m. in the Royal Palm and Orchid Ballrooms, featuring a sold-out vendor space. The event was scheduled to conclude with a dinner event titled “Notti de Napoli.”
On the final day, March 31, the conference introduced a new programming format, featuring concurrent breakout sessions tailored to specific segments of the cruise hotel supply chain. This allowed participants to choose sessions that best aligned with their business focus, covering areas such as food, beverage, and hotel supply.
