Rotterdam’s Resurgence: Upgraded Ship Returns from Drydock

Holland America Line’s Rotterdam has recently returned to operation following a two-week drydock in The Netherlands. The ship welcomed its first guests back on April 26 and is now set to continue its seven-day summer itineraries throughout Northern Europe.

The drydock refurbishment included several exciting enhancements. Notably, live music venues have been upgraded with additional seating at Billboard Onboard and Rolling Stone Lounge. The Crow’s Nest has introduced a new live music stage, enhancing the onboard entertainment experience.

Outdoor entertainment options have also expanded with the addition of a new bandstand at the Sea View Pool on deck 9. Guests can now enjoy live performances in a relaxed poolside setting.

Stateroom renovations aimed at accommodating larger groups were implemented as well, with 22 Vista Suites now featuring sofa beds that allow them to sleep up to four guests. Complementing these changes, new carpeting has been laid across staterooms, guest corridors, and public areas, along with fresh upholstery for furniture. Floors and chairs have been refinished, while new wall coverings rejuvenate the ship’s look.

In the Greenhouse Spa & Salon, a more ergonomic hair-washing station has been added to enhance guest comfort. The casino also saw significant upgrades, with approximately 20 new slot machines installed, along with updated seating, carpeting, and new televisions in the table games area.

Finally, the Effy Jewelry retail venue has received a makeover with updated flooring, wall finishes, lighting, and display fixtures, ensuring a refreshed shopping experience for guests.
