Holland America Line Unveils Exciting Grand Voyages for 2028
Holland America Line has unveiled its planned itineraries for the 2028 Grand Voyages, a move inspired by years of feedback from guests seeking adventure and discovery. Travelers can select from a 129-day Grand World Voyage, which circumnavigates the globe, or a 90-day cruise that explores Australia, New Zealand, and the South Pacific.
The announcement was made by Holland America Line’s President, Beth Bodensteiner, during the 2026 Grand World Voyage. Both voyages promise unique experiences, including scenic cruising through Antarctica, the Chilean Fjords, and the Beagle Channel, along with stops at exotic destinations such as Bora Bora and Western Australia.
Bodensteiner highlighted what makes these Grand Voyage itineraries unique: "Our Grand Voyage itineraries allow for a deeper connection to destinations and offer visits to less frequented ports, making for unforgettable moments." Notable experiences include exploring Antarctica, crossing the intersection of the Prime Meridian and the Equator at Null Island, and visiting famous sites like Easter Island.
The voyages will be held on the Volendam and Zaandam, ships known for their capability to access ports unsuitable for larger vessels. The Grand World Voyage departs roundtrip from Fort Lauderdale on January 4, featuring 45 ports across 26 countries and territories, while also allowing visits to 31 UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
The Grand Australia & New Zealand Voyage, onboard Zaandam, begins on January 30 from San Diego and includes a transit of the International Date Line and stops at 41 ports across 12 countries. This journey also boasts visits to 13 UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including the Great Barrier Reef and New Zealand’s Tongariro National Park.
For those interested in either voyage, Holland America encourages travelers to contact their World Cruise Reservations Desk or travel advisors to secure priority booking by placing a deposit. Early bookings for the Grand World Voyage by June 14, 2027, can receive benefits up to $10,700 per stateroom, including onboard credit and air credits. Additionally, the Grand Australia & New Zealand Voyage offers early bookers benefits totaling up to $8,500.
