Holland America Unveils Post-Evolution Deployment Plans for the Oosterdam

Holland America Line has announced the beginning of bookings for the Oosterdam, which will be the first ship to benefit from the major refurbishment plan known as Holland America Evolution. This investment marks the largest in the brand’s 153-year history.

Following its drydock, scheduled for completion in late 2027, the Oosterdam will present eight unique itineraries and 15 departure dates that cover Europe, the Caribbean, and North America. The refurbished ship will provide guests an opportunity to enjoy new onboard enhancements alongside rich travel destinations.

The extensive refurbishment aims to modernize the fleet by integrating features found on the newer Pinnacle Class ships. Notably, Oosterdam will introduce new stateroom categories and enhance access to signature venues.

Michael Stendebach, Holland America’s senior vice president of food, beverage, and rooms division, expressed enthusiasm about the Evolution program. Guests will notice a refined experience from the moment they board, with new spaces such as the Grand Dutch Café, designed to provide a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

Unique new offerings aboard the Oosterdam include Solo Verandah staterooms equipped with private balconies and dedicated workspaces, as well as the luxurious Bridgeview Suites that boast expansive panoramic windows and additional living space. The Grand Dutch Café, a European-style coffee shop, will also be introduced onboard, enhancing the experience that pays homage to the line’s Dutch heritage.

After its refurbishment, Oosterdam will make its return to European waters in December 2027, starting with a week-long voyage through the Western Mediterranean, visiting Spain, Portugal, and Morocco. This journey will be followed by a 13-night trans-Atlantic crossing to Fort Lauderdale.

In the 2027-28 season, the ship will operate from Port Everglades, offering 11- and 12-night itineraries that explore the Southern Caribbean and the ABC Islands. By spring 2028, the Oosterdam will transit the Panama Canal, making stops throughout Central America and Mexico, and conclude its journey along the picturesque U.S. West Coast before finishing in the Pacific Northwest.
