
Expedia Cruises recently held its largest annual Anchor Conference onboard the MSC World America from April 11–18. This event welcomed nearly 1,000 attendees, including franchisees, vacation consultants, supply partners, and corporate team members.
With the theme "Stronger Together – Elevate and Accelerate," the conference emphasized collaboration and growth within the industry. Matthew Eichhorst, Expedia’s President, noted the energizing atmosphere and the importance of such gatherings in moving the industry forward by fostering relationships and sharing best practices.
During the event, Expedia unveiled plans to expand its workforce by hiring 2,400 new vacation consultants and opening 15 additional franchise locations. Recognizing excellence, over 100 vacation consultants were awarded at the Diamond Level for achieving more than $1 million in annual sales.
Ealeen Wong, senior director of strategy, partnerships, and sales at Expedia Cruises, highlighted new marketing, technology, and training initiatives aimed at maximizing opportunities in a growing global travel market. The conference featured keynotes, one-on-one coaching, and an engaging tradeshow experience, culminating in a day at Ocean Cay, MSC’s private island.
Moreover, Expedia announced technological advancements, including a new AI-driven consumer website for all consultants and enhancements like a consultant dashboard powered by Microsoft Power BI. This emphasis on technology is aimed at equipping the network to better capture emerging opportunities in the travel sector.
