MSC Cruises has officially announced the naming ceremony for its latest flagship, MSC World Asia, set to take place in Le Havre, France, on November 28, 2026. The ceremony will gather industry representatives, partners, media, and VIP guests for the traditional christening of the third vessel in MSC’s WORLD series. A key highlight of the event will include the ceremonial breaking of a champagne bottle against the ship’s bow.
Following the naming festivities, MSC World Asia will commence its inaugural Mediterranean season from Barcelona on December 4, 2026. The ship will operate 7-night itineraries, making stops at various ports including Marseille, Messina, Civitavecchia, Naples, and Valletta, with embarkation available at each location.
MSC’s Chief Executive Officer, Gianni Onorato, highlighted the success of the World Class program and the innovations introduced by MSC World Asia, which builds on the successes of its sister ships. To lead the new flagship, Captain Paolo Benini has been appointed, reflecting his distinguished record aboard MSC Euribia and his extensive maritime experience.
As part of MSC’s LNG-powered World Class fleet, MSC World Asia boasts numerous Asian-inspired design elements, featuring over 40 bars, lounges, dining venues, and various entertainment options. Highlights include a magnificent dragon sculpture in the World Promenade and an enhanced version of the line’s well-known dry slide attraction. Inaugural deployments will focus on the Western Mediterranean throughout the winter and summer seasons of 2026-2027.
