The Blue Circle Award is given to shipping and cruise lines that exhibit environmental leadership by effectively reducing their emissions and minimizing their operational impacts. With this latest honor, DCL has now been recognized 13 times, showcasing its consistent adherence to the environmental performance standards set by the port authority.
A significant aspect of Disney’s environmental strategy in Vancouver includes utilizing shore power. When the necessary infrastructure is in place, the ships connect to the port’s electrical grid while docked, allowing onboard engines to turn off and greatly decreasing emissions during their stay.
The upcoming 2025 Alaska season will see both the Disney Wonder and the Disney Magic operating from Vancouver for the first time. This expansion not only enhances Disney Cruise Line’s presence in the region but also emphasizes their commitment to shoreside power and other sustainable practices throughout their port operations.
Additionally, DCL has garnered recognition for its overall environmental and social responsibility initiatives. It ranked seventh on Forbes’ 2026 Best Brands for Social Impact list, further underscoring its dedication to sustainability and ethical business practices.
This award coincides with a notable period of growth for DCL, which currently operates 8 ships and aims to expand to 13 by 2031, including the introduction of the Disney Believe, set to debut next year.
