Queen Mary 2 Dazzles in New York City: A Spectacular July 4 Celebration

Cunard celebrated a momentous landmark event as the Queen Mary 2 took center stage in New York Harbor for the Sail4th 250, marking the United States’ 250th Independence Day celebrations. The ship was strategically anchored in a prime location, allowing guests a perfect view of one of the grandest July 4th festivities ever held, which featured an unprecedented assembly of tall ships and naval vessels.

The celebrations gained national prominence with NBC’s TODAY show broadcasting live from the Queen Mary 2, showcasing the historic event. The day was highlighted by the International Parade of Sail, featuring over 100 vessels, including 47 tall ships from 20 nations. These ships paraded from the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge past the iconic Statue of Liberty and along the Hudson River up to the George Washington Bridge.

In addition to the parade, attendees enjoyed an International Naval Review. During this segment, a U.S. Navy vessel recognized the fleet of 37 U.S. and allied ships that were assembled for the occasion. The day concluded with a remarkable military flypast led by the U.S. Navy’s Blue Angels, which featured over 150 aircraft including the Red Arrows, followed by a stunning fireworks display illuminating the New York City skyline.
