Luminara, the newest addition to the Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection, recently celebrated its first anniversary, having officially joined the fleet on June 3, 2025. Built at Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in St. Nazaire, France, Luminara is a sister ship to the 2024-built Ilma and became the company’s third vessel.
Under Captain Magnus Bengtsson’s direction, Luminara commenced its maiden season in the Mediterranean on July 3, 2025. The ship was christened by actress Simone Ashley during a special ceremony in Barcelona. Its inaugural voyage took it from Monte Carlo to Civitavecchia, covering seven nights and visiting Western Mediterranean destinations, including France’s Cannes and L’Île-Rousse, as well as Italy’s Livorno, Portofino, and Portoferraio.
After concluding its inaugural season in Europe, Luminara then expanded Ritz-Carlton’s reach into new territories, venturing to Africa and the Indian Ocean. In December, the ship embarked on the company’s inaugural season in the Asia-Pacific, exploring various destinations, including Hong Kong and Thailand.
By May, Luminara arrived on the West Coast of North America, where it began offering a new series of itineraries to Alaska and Canada, sailing from Vancouver and Whittier. These itineraries span 11 destinations and are highlighted by extended stays and scenic transits past the Hubbard and Sawyer Glaciers.
Upon completing its Alaskan deployment, Luminara is slated to return to the Asia-Pacific for a second season. The ship’s name, derived from the Latin word for "light," reflects its design, inspired by mega yachts. With a capacity for 452 passengers, Luminara features 226 suites, each boasting private terraces and floor-to-ceiling windows.
Onboard amenities include five restaurants, seven bars, a wine vault, and collaborations with renowned chefs like Fabio Trabocchi and Michael Mina. Additionally, guests can enjoy a panoramic pool area with jacuzzis, The Ritz-Carlton Spa, and dedicated fitness spaces.
