Scenic Eclipse II Set to Make a Grand Return to Asia-Pacific in 2028-2029

Scenic Group has announced its 2028-29 itinerary for the Scenic Eclipse II, marking its return to the Asia-Pacific region after its 2024 and 2025 seasons. This newly revealed program offers a blend of expedition-style voyages while also providing an extensive array of land journeys across Australia, New Zealand, Asia, and the South Pacific.

For the upcoming season, Scenic Eclipse II will journey from locations like the Kimberley and Tasmania to varied destinations including New Zealand, Japan, Indonesia, the Philippines, and several islands in the South Pacific. The planned itineraries are designed to encompass both popular urban sites and remote coastal areas, which are often overlooked by conventional cruise lines.

Notably, Japan will play a significant role in the new program, particularly with voyages during the cherry blossom season. Other destinations set for inclusion are Palau, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Tasmania. The expedition voyages will reach further into destinations like Indonesian Papua, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, and Sulawesi. In Tasmania, the ship plans to visit King Island, Bruny Island, and various national parks across the western coast. The itineraries also incorporate key locations in Sydney and Newcastle, reconnecting with Scenic Group’s historical roots.

The Kimberley region is already seeing a surge in demand due to the new ocean collection, highlighting the ongoing interest in expedition cruising. Scenic Eclipse II’s routes will feature the Kimberley Coast, Australia’s Top End, the Great Barrier Reef, and several areas within the South Pacific.

In addition, Scenic has enhanced its portfolio of luxury land journeys for 2028 and 2029, allowing travelers to pair specific Scenic Eclipse II voyages with extended stays in Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and the South Pacific. New small-group journeys will also cover Australia’s eastern seaboard, the Top End, and Central Australia, in addition to programs in New Zealand and Japan.

Guests will enjoy premium accommodations, with some itineraries offering complimentary experiences such as helicopter flights for travelers booking the Best Available fare. Furthermore, Penthouse Suite guests and members of the Chairman’s Club will have exclusive access to specialized helicopter excursions and dining experiences.

Scenic Group emphasizes that this expanded program aligns with their strategy to merge luxurious cruising with expedition-style travel and destination-focused land explorations. Lisa McCaskill, vice president of sales and marketing at Scenic Group Canada, remarked that the return of Scenic Eclipse II and the expanded land journeys would enable travelers and advisors to craft longer and more diverse adventures throughout the Asia-Pacific area.

The 2028-29 program will effectively position Scenic Eclipse II across a wide geographical range, prioritizing unique and smaller destinations while channeling an adventurous spirit in their exploration efforts.
