Vasco da Gama Unveils Additional Fuel Surcharge for Upcoming World Cruise

Nicko Cruises has announced that guests aboard the Vasco da Gama will incur an additional fuel surcharge for its upcoming 193-day world cruise. The surcharge will be €10 per person per night, culminating in a total of €1,930 for those participating in the entire cruise.

The company cited surging international fuel prices far exceeding earlier projections as the catalyst for this charge. They stated, “International fuel prices remain significantly above the level used in the original calculation.” This announcement comes after significant rises in oil prices due to global tensions, particularly in the Middle East.

Initially, Nicko Cruises had delayed communication regarding the surcharge, hoping for a resolution in the geopolitical context before reaching out to passengers. They emphasized that current fuel pricing levels are still considerably above the rates anticipated at the inception of cruise planning, noting the continued high prices since early March.

Guests will find the surcharge clearly indicated on their invoices, and the company reassured travelers that they are actively monitoring fuel prices in partnership with their suppliers. Nicko Cruises aims to maintain its commitment to providing a quality travel experience despite these constraints.

The world cruise is set to commence from Hamburg, Germany, on November 3, 2026, and will explore various destinations across the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian Oceans, returning to Hamburg on May 5, 2027.
