The ship departed Los Angeles on September 25, 2026, for a ten-night cruise aiming to visit the Baja Peninsula and the Sea of Cortez, but plans had to be altered after the storm prompted the cancellation of stops at La Paz, Guaymas, and Puerto Vallarta.
In a statement to guests, Princess Cruises emphasized their commitment to safety. "Please be advised that we are closely monitoring Hurricane Polo as it moves along the coast of Mexico," read the message. To ensure the wellbeing of passengers and crew, adjustments were made to navigate safely around the storm.
As a result, the Grand Princess will visit San Diego for an overnight layover and Mazatlán instead of the original ports. The expected two-day stay in Cabo San Lucas will now be shortened, allowing for only a late-night departure on the first day instead.
Passengers were presented with the choice to cancel their bookings and receive a Future Cruise Credit (FCC) equivalent to 100% of the voyage’s base fare. Those opting to continue their journey were rewarded with a $100 onboard credit for use during the cruise.
