Aman at Sea has appointed Ertan Vasvi captain of the Amangati, its first ship, which is scheduled to launch in 2027.
The 94-guest yacht, developed through a joint venture between Aman and Cruise Saudi, is due to begin its inaugural season in the Mediterranean with a departure from Palma de Mallorca on May 7, 2027. It will then sail its first Caribbean season in fall 2027.
Vasvi has nearly 20 years of experience in ultra-luxury and expedition cruising. He will oversee the yacht’s nautical and marine operations, help guide work through the final stage of construction, and recruit and train the deck and bridge teams ahead of the first sailings.
He began his career with Silversea in 2009, working as an officer of the watch and safety officer before becoming staff captain across the company’s expedition and classic fleets. In 2018, he joined Seabourn as staff captain. From 2021, he spent two years in Genoa leading shoreside deck, nautical and expedition operations during the construction and delivery of two ships. He has held command since 2023.
Vasvi said the Amangati offers a different experience from both traditional cruising and private superyacht charters, combining technical operations with hospitality for a small number of guests. He described joining the project during construction as a rare opportunity and said he looked forward to welcoming the first guests in May 2027.
