Silversea has opened The Cormorant at 55 South, a 150-room hotel in Puerto Williams, Chile—the southernmost city on Earth. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on November 5, attended by company executives, Chilean authorities and local community members.
The hotel will serve as the gateway to Silversea’s Antarctica Fly Cruise program. Guests arrive in Puerto Williams on Silversea-chartered flights and stay at the property before continuing their expeditions.
Silversea’s ships Silver Endeavour, Silver Wind and Silver Cloud are scheduled to operate 40 voyages through March 2027, including 29 fly-cruise itineraries. Trips range from six to 21 nights and include destinations such as the Antarctic Peninsula, South Georgia and the Falkland Islands.
The hotel’s restaurant, Latitude 55, draws on Chilean ingredients and regional traditions. Bar Sur serves tea and small bites during the day, followed by Chilean wines and spirits in the evening. The property also features a fireplace lounge, works by Chilean artists, and outdoor activities including kayaking, hiking and horseback riding.
