Royal Caribbean Adjusts Itineraries in Response to Hurricane Milton

Royal Caribbean International has revised the itineraries for several of its ships in response to the effects of Hurricane Milton.

“Together with our Chief Meteorologist, Craig Setzer, we are carefully tracking Tropical Storm Milton, which is anticipated to strengthen into a significant hurricane as it traverses the Gulf of Mexico, reaching Florida’s west coast by Wednesday,” the company conveyed in a notice to guests on the Wonder of the Seas.

“To safely steer clear of the storm and its extensive consequences, along with our Captain, we’ve opted to forgo our stops in Roatan, Honduras, and Costa Maya, Mexico,” stated Royal Caribbean.

The ship, which is on a seven-night cruise in the Western Caribbean, departed from Port Canaveral on October 6, 2024.

The initial itinerary also featured stops in Cozumel, Mexico, and Perfect Day at CocoCay, Bahamas, which will proceed as planned.

To “compensate for the modifications,” Royal Caribbean has added a destination in Falmouth, Jamaica, to the ship’s schedule.

“We sincerely apologize for this last-minute change due to weather – ensuring your safety is our utmost concern. Please understand that being onboard is one of the safest options, as our ship can swiftly navigate away from any adverse weather conditions,” the company further stated.

Other vessels that experienced itinerary changes include the Harmony of the Seas, which has also omitted its visit to Roatán, Honduras, and adjusted the days for its stops in Cozumel and Costa Maya, Mexico.

The Utopia of the Seas, which provides a short cruise to the Bahamas from Port Canaveral, altered its visits to Nassau and Perfect Day at CocoCay.

Initially planned for a seven-night cruise to Florida and the Bahamas from Cape Liberty, the Symphony of the Seas is now heading to the Caribbean.

Rather than stopping at Nassau, CocoCay, and Port Canaveral as initially scheduled, the ship will now journey to Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic, and Royal Caribbean’s exclusive destination in Haiti, Labadee.

The Independence of the Seas, offering a five-night cruise from Miami, will skip its planned visit to Cozumel, Mexico, and will instead stop in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic.

The Grandeur of the Seas also adjusted its current cruise, shifting its route from the Western Caribbean to the Bahamas, with a stop in Nassau replacing the previously planned destinations of Cozumel and Costa Maya, Mexico.
