The Norwegian Gem recently made its debut in Jacksonville, marking a significant event for JaxPort as it becomes the first cruise ship of its kind to call Jacksonville home. This development allows Norwegian Cruise Line to join Carnival Cruise Line, offering residents more local options for embarking on cruises.

The Norwegian Gem stands out due to its unique features and amenities. It accommodates approximately 2,394 passengers, significantly less than Norwegian’s larger ships that can hold over 4,000. Despite being smaller, the Gem is part of the mid-sized Jewel Class and provides a more intimate cruising experience, in contrast to the expansive amenities of mega-ships like the Norwegian Encore, known for attractions like go-kart tracks and multiple waterslides.

The ship offers a range of upscale experiences akin to that of a floating resort. Key attractions include the Mandara Spa & Salon, which features a thermal suite with saunas and steam rooms, perfect for relaxation at sea.

As night falls, onboard entertainment includes high-energy performances like "Blazing Boots," a pop-country tribute, and "Ignite the Night," a vibrant dance production crafted by Norwegian’s creative team.

Culinary offerings on the Norwegian Gem are diverse, with 12 restaurants and 14 bars and lounges serving everything from Asian stir-fry to traditional Italian and Brazilian barbecue, ensuring each evening presents a new culinary adventure.

The Norwegian Gem, measuring 965 feet long and weighing 93,530 tons, has a guest capacity of 2,344 alongside a crew of 1,070. Originally built in 2007 and refurbished in 2022, it provides an array of modern luxuries.
