Carnival Cruise Line Raises Internet Package Prices Across All Tiers: What You Need to Know

Carnival Cruise Line has increased the prices of its onboard internet packages by up to 22% across all tiers. This change comes after a previous price hike on its CHEERS! drink package for longer voyages, indicating a broader trend of rising onboard costs.

The most notable increase occurred with the Social Wi-Fi Plan, which is the most basic internet option. Previously priced at $15.30 per day for pre-cruise purchases, the new price is set at $18.70. Passengers who choose to purchase the plan onboard will now pay $22 per day. This plan allows access to select social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and WhatsApp, but does not support streaming or high-bandwidth activities.

The Value Plan, which offers more extensive internet access and faster speeds, has also seen a price increase of 13%. It will now cost $22.10 per day for pre-cruise purchases, up from $19.55, while onboard, it rises to $26 per day from $23.

For the Premium Plan, the cost has increased from $21.25 to $23.80 per day for pre-cruise bookings. Onboard, the price has risen to $28 per day. This top-tier plan supports streaming, video calls, and high-speed browsing.

The new pricing structure puts Carnival’s Premium Plan on par with or above similar packages from competitors. For instance, Royal Caribbean’s VOOM Surf + Stream package is priced at $21.99 per day for an upcoming cruise, translating to approximately $153 for a weeklong voyage. Comparatively, Carnival’s Premium Plan for the same duration would total $166 if booked in advance.

These changes were implemented without prior notification to guests who had already booked cruises, preventing them from taking advantage of the previous lower rates. This marks the second price increase for Carnival’s internet packages in less than a year, following an earlier hike in December 2023.

As internet package rates continue to rise across the cruise industry, passengers are advised to secure their packages early to benefit from the best rates available.
